Top 10 Favorite Christmas Movies
from Skillet’s Lead singer, John Cooper. Do you agree?
1. Die Hard
Sweetest movie ever!
2. Christmas Story
Oh fudge!
3. Christmas Vacation
The hardest I laugh every year.
4. Elf
You sit on a throne of lies!
5. It’s a Wonderful Life
No movie makes me feel like the holidays as much as “It’s a Wonderful Life.” It’s a “must watch” every year!
6.The Family Man
Basically an updated “It’s a Wonderful Life!” Hollywood doesn’t make many movies that make you realize that family is more important than money.
7. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Ok, so this is obviously from my childhood. But I still love the way it looks. I don’t know why but it’s kind of creepy!
8. How the Grinch Stole Christmas
I love Dr. Suess…he’s really strange.
9. Gremlins
My parents didn’t know I watched this…maybe that’s why I liked it so much.
10. Scrooged
This movie was the first time I understood Bill Murray’s unusual humor.

Coheed and Cambria New Album in April
December 16, 2009
Columbia Records is proud to announce the upcoming release of Year of the Black Rainbow, the heavily anticipated fifth studio album from Coheed and Cambria, the 21st century’s premier progressive rock band. Year of the Black Rainbow is slated for release in April 2010.
Year of the Black Rainbow will be made available in a a deluxe package including a 300+ page prose novel of the same name, co-written by Claudio Sanchez and New York Times bestselling author Peter David, which promises to “tell the origins of Coheed and Cambria, and much more.” Presale information on the deluxe edition of Year of the Black Rainbow will be announced toward the end of December.
Year of the Black Rainbow provides the eagerly awaited prequel to the band’s four previous inter-related concept albums — The Second Stage Turbine Blade (2002); In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 (2003); Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness (2005) and Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow (2007) — which comprise “The Amory Wars,” the conceptual narrative driving the band’s lyrics, penned by Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez.
Through the group’s career, Coheed and Cambria have created consistently complex and challenging musical soundscapes to frame the psychological and narrative arcs of the band’s futurist mythic visions.
Year of the Black Rainbow is produced by Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails, Jane’s Addiction) and Joe Baressi (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool). According to the Coheed and Cambria, “They have helped us evolve our sound to be more powerful and dynamic than ever and we think it’s definitely our best work to date.”
Songs on Year of the Black Rainbow include “Here We Are Juggernaut,” “The Broken,” “Pearl of the Stars” and “Guns of Summer.”
In a post this week on the band’s website (www.coheedandcambria.com), Coheed and Cambria confirmed that “….the new album will be the ‘Origin Story’ or ‘The Prequel,’ and likely the final story of the ongoing concept story of ‘The Amory Wars.’”
Nikki Sixx Updates us on New Sixx: A.M.
December 16, 2009
Motley Crue and Sixx A.M. bassist Nikki Sixx has the following update:
“Happy holidays to everybody. Not much to update from me (ok, I am lying) but I thought I should keep some of you in the loop. I admit to slacking on internet communication, sorry I’ve been head down into creativity and life lately.
Been knee deep in chemicals in my studio darkroom as I’ve been working with a wonderful photographer named Luther Garlach. He has been teaching me the magic of “wet plate”, I have been shooting on glass and recently on tin, exposing thru natural light or uv intense artificial light at Funny Farm. So many chemicals, so much to learn…so exciting.
Katherine (Kat Von D) says I have found what I’ve been looking for in photography. She is right but that doesn’t mean I have abandoned my digital or film approach. I actually feel like I am just getting started on multiple fronts…I am toying with some ideas but for now I am allowing them to brew in my brain and not announce anything.
The new Sixx A.M. music is slowly coming along…it’s hard to talk up your music without sounding like your pre-selling it. I think it will be best for you to just hear it…it will be completely different, yet very familiar to your ears. But honestly, I can’t wait for you to hear it.
The music room at the Covenant house is up and running (some of you know this as RUNNING WILD IN THE NIGHT). Between the sales from The Heroin Diaries and your contributions we have raised hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars and the money is really going to good use. Thank you so much…especially at this time of year. The kids tell me all the time what a difference this is making in their lives.
Kelly Gray had a great idea to tie in our clothing line (Royal Underground) and we have raised so much money and awareness with that as well.
I am really proud of the clothing line. We keep getting stronger and stronger as we refine our looks…Kelly Kicks ass.
Excited to be off the road, home with my kids and Katherine. We have a few shows here and there but nothing really till 2011 and that’s just fine by me. Motley Crue is like a zombie that wont die, but even monsters need there sleep
KINGS OF LEON taking a break
December 16, 2009
Now that KINGS OF LEON have wrapped up their touring, the band are reportedly planning to take a well-deserved break.
NATHAN FOLLOWILL tells Q magazine the band are planning to take six months off. He says he plans to sit on his couch and eat chocolate chip cookie ice cream, and then move on to golfing, fishing and camping. Still, the drummer reports they’ve already gotten a jump on their next album. He says they’ve written about ten songs for the record so far.
JOHN FRUSCIANTE out of the CHILI PEPPERS again?
December 16, 2009
The Internet has been going crazy with rumors that guitarist JOHN FRUSCIANTE has once again left THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS. The story originated with the website Music Radar, which quotes an unnamed source close to the band as saying, “Mentally, John checked out a long time ago.” It continues, “He’s interested in doing his own thing, his own albums — the whole big rock band machinery just doesn’t appeal to him anymore.”
Frusciante has reportedly been replaced, at least temporarily, by JOSH KLINGHOFFER, who has played with BECK, P.J. HARVEY, THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS and SPARKS.
Frusciante joined the Chili Peppers after the death of HILEL SLOVAK in 1988, and first appeared on their 1989 album Mother’s Milk. But he quit after the release of Blood Sugar Sex Magic because he was unhappy with the band’s massive success. The band replaced him with DAVE NAVARRO, while Frusciante descended into heroin addiction. After Frusciante got clean and the Chilis fired Navarro in 1998, John rejoined the band. He played his first show back with the band at Washington D.C.’s 930 Club as a warm-up for their appearance the next day at the Tibetan Freedom Concert.
An e-mail to the Chili Peppers management requesting a comment was not immediately returned.
Todd not interested in Aerosmith role
December 16, 2009
The Buckcherry frontman recently topped a Rolling Stone magazine readers poll to find the perfect Tyler replacement, but he doesn’t want the gig.
Todd says, “He’s been a huge inspiration for me and Buckcherry but I truly believe that no one can take his place… I am the singer of Buckcherry and we are currently hard at work on the next record.”
The rocker would rather see Tyler rejoin his bandmates and scrap plans for a lengthy hiatus: “Hopefully they patch things up. Hopefully we will see an Aerosmith/Buckcherry tour in the future.”
Aerosmith stars Joe Perry and Brad Whitford have made it clear they won’t be waiting for Tyler - and they plan to forge on with plans to tour and record new material in 2010 with a new frontman.
Lenny Kravitz previously withdrew his name from the job search after former Geffen Records executive John Kalodner, the man behind the legendary group’s 1980s comeback, recently urged crestfallen Aerosmith bandmembers to sign the rock star to take over from Tyler.
In a Twitter.com post, Kravitz wrote, “As much as I am flattered that Aerosmith’s camp would consider me to front the band, Steven Tyler is a family friend, and no voice could ever take the place of his. I hope the band stays together. They are classic.”
