KORN NEEDS YOU!

April 30, 2009

KORN is looking for regional bands to participate in the Rock On! Fest at The Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion in Gilford, New Hampshire on May 23.

The Rock On! Fest is a tribute to the late founder of the venue, Bob Harding. It was Bob’s passion to promote all genres of music and to help regional bands develop their talent.

The Rock On! Fest will host 30 regional bands on two different stages beginning at noon.

Bands interested in participating are asked to send their website, Facebook, MySpace or YouTube links to bill@meadowbrook.net for approval. Once approved by KORN’s management, the band will be given a code to track their promotion of the event. The venue will pay the bands $5.00 for every ticket sold using their code and the bands that help promote the festival will be awarded the best positions on the festival schedule. The more tickets sold using the band’s code, the closer to KORN they play on the main stage!

Atreyu Enters Studio

April 30, 2009

Atreyu has entered Henson Studios in Los Angeles with producer Bob Marlette (Saliva, Seether, Ozzy Osbourne) to begin work on the highly anticipated follow-up to 2007’s Lead Sails Paper Anchor.

“We started as a heavy hardcore band,” says lead vocalist Alex Varkatzas, “and I think we’ve gotten away from that in recent years. The last record, for example, showcased us as a rock band with heavy parts. With this record, we want to return to our roots while also continuing to move forward. It’s about finding the right balance between the two.”

“This album will scream as a statement of where we’ve been, what we’ve become and where we will go,” adds drummer/vocalist Brandon Saller. “We think this record will be a huge marker in the life of Atreyu and we can’t wait to unveil it.”

According to Varkatzas, the band has demoed 30 songs and plans to narrow it down to 16, with the goal being to finish recording by June. “The songs definitely have a dark, heavier feel and I think the current climate has a lot to do with that,” says the vocalist. “Personally, I just feel‚Ķangry and it’s coming out in the music. Failed bailouts, unemployment on the rise, troops still in Iraq ‚Äî I watch all this stuff on the news and it carries over to the sessions. It gets me fired up.”

After initial drum sessions at Henson, the band and Marlette will move production to the producer’s Blue Room Studios in the San Fernando Valley. “I was anxious to work with these guys,” says Marlette. “They’re a great slamming live band with amazing power and a great signature sound. This is going to be a helluva record.”

30 SECONDS TO MARS settle lawsuit with label

April 30, 2009

30 SECONDS TO MARS have reportedly settled the 30 million dollar lawsuit against them by Virgin Records and EMI Music.

The suit was fairly standard record industry business — a label signs a band for a specified number of albums, and if they’re successful the band tries to renegotiate the terms of the deal. If they don’t get what they want, and they’ve been signed to the label long enough, they’ll usually cite a California labor law that says contracts are void after seven years. In the meantime, the label sometimes sues. And in most cases, the band drags their feet on a new album until they renegotiate for more money.

30 Seconds To Mars’ circumstances pretty much followed the standard storyline, although the case was slightly different since JARED and SHANNON LETO originally signed to Immortal Records, which is now out of business. And their current label’s 30 million dollar suit was kind of clever, in light of the band’s name. Nonetheless, it comes as no surprise that the band have now announced they’ve ended the fight, and are preparing to release a new album through Virgin and EMI.

There’s no word on the terms of the deal, but Leto tells The Los Angeles Times that the follow-up to 2005’s A Beautiful Lie, tentatively entitled This is War, will be released in the fall.

Creed Reunion Won’t Break Alter Bridge

April 29, 2009

Myles Kennedy has shot down reports that the newly announced reunion of CREED will effectively put an end to ALTER BRIDGE, the band he formed with then-former CREED members, guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips and bassist Brian Marshall.

Kennedy says, “Many of you are wondering how this CREED reunion tour will affect the future of ALTER BRIDGE. No worries, it won’t. I can assure you that as soon as they finish in October, we will move forward.

“Contrary to false statements that might lead you to believe otherwise, ALTER BRIDGE continues to be paramount to the four of us.

“The guys have my full support. It’s a very complex situation to say the least. It had to be done.

“I appreciate the fact that so many of you are concerned about our future. With that said, everything is going to be all right.

“ALTER BRIDGE’s third record is well on its way. The guys will embark on their reunion tour, I will make my record, and then we will carry on.”

CREED officially announced its reunion yesterday (Monday, April 27) after months of speculation. The group, which broke up in 2004, will head out on the road for a summer tour beginning on August 6 in Pittsburgh and wrapping up on October 14 in Nashville. Six songs have already been written for the band’s fourth studio album, which will likely be titled “Full Circle”. Recording for the project, CREED’s first set of new material since 2001’s “Weathered”, will begin shortly in Nashville. A single will probably arrive before the tour begins, with the full album to come during or immediately after the trek.

The reunion will feature vocalist Scott Stapp, Tremonti, Phillips and Marshall, who quit the band in 2000 and was replaced by Brett Hestla.

Tremonti, Phillips and Marshall have recorded two albums as ALTER BRIDGE, with Myles Kennedy. Stapp launched a solo career after CREED split that was derailed by drug and domestic problems.

Stapp told The Pulse of Radio shortly after CREED’s break-up that it should never have happened in the first place. “The announcement never would have been made, because we didn’t feel as a band that we needed to break up to go pursue some solo things,” he said. “But when you are successful and the people around you start growing, and sometimes there’s a communication breakdown. And that’s something that I’ve definitely learned through this, is don’t talk through anybody, you know. Call your friends when you’ve got something important to talk about.”

In a statement about the reunion, Tremonti said, “We’re all very excited to reconnect with our fans and each other after six long years,” while Stapp added, “It’s amazing how life can change and bring you full circle. Time gave us all a chance to reflect, grow and gain a deeper appreciation of our friendships, artistic chemistry, passion for music, and sincere love for our fans! It’s rare in life to get a second chance to make a first impression and we embrace the opportunity.”¬† source: blabbermouth

Me and the guys are ready to kill it this summer!”

Saving Abel Go NASCAR

April 29, 2009

NASCAR Media Group and Virgin Records rock quartet Saving Abel announced today that the music video for the band’s third single from their gold certified self-titled debut album will debut exclusively on Yahoo! on Thursday, April 30th.

The NASCAR-themed video for “Drowning (Face Down)” stars NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Jeremy Mayfield as an aspiring racer who makes great sacrifices for a chance to compete at the highest level. The driver has no sponsor and no endorsement deals, but pushes forward through all obstacles in pursuit of his racing dreams.

“It was awesome and I can’t wait until it comes out,” said Jeremy Mayfield, who finished 32nd during Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. “Just being a part of that was just cool for me. Those guys are great guys and I’m glad to see them coming up. I didn’t really know them that well until we did the video and they have a lot of fun. It’s funny how our story kind of fit their song and worked perfect for their video.”

A five-time Sprint Cup race winner, Mayfield hasn’t had a full-time ride in more than two years and decided to start his own team a month before the 2009 season began. Mirroring the music video’s theme, Mayfield has started three races this year, including racing his way into the Daytona 500, and is trying to recapture some of his past successes.

“We had a blast shooting the ‘Drowning (Face Down)’ video with Jeremy Mayfield and the other NASCAR drivers as we’re all big NASCAR fans, said Saving Abel frontman Jared Weeks. We especially love how Jeremy’s real life story mirrors the character he plays in the video.”

Parts of the music video were shot at Bristol Motor Speedway, as well as Mayfield Motorsports in Harrisburg, N.C., and it features cameos by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Carl Edwards, Martin Truex Jr., Brian Vickers and Clint Bowyer.

BUSH Reunion?

April 28, 2009

Gavin Rossdale says he is writing for a new album, but hasn’t decided if it will be a follow up to his solo debut, WANDERlust, or for the first Bush album since 2001.

Rossdale says a Bush return would depend on guitarist Nigel Pulsford, who has opted to stay with his family rather than return to action with the ’90s rockers.

“I suppose, potentially, yeah, it could happen,” Rossdale says. “But if [Pulsford]’s not going to tour it, I don’t know. We’ll see. It’s all up in the air.”

CREED Reunites with New Music and Tour

April 28, 2009

CREED’s original line-up of SCOTT STAPP, MARK TREMONTI, SCOTT PHILLIPS and BRIAN MARSHALL have announced they’re reuniting for a new album and a tour. Creed officially broke up in 2004 after releasing their last album, Weathered, in 2001. But bassist BRIAN MARSHALL didn’t appear on that final album, after being replaced by BRETT HESTLA.

After their official breakup, Stapp launched a solo career, while the other original band members formed ALTER BRIDGE with singer MYLES KENNEDY.

Promoting his solo album in 2005, Stapp told ABC News Radio he had been surprised by the announcement of a breakup, because the band members had promised each other, quote, “no matter what happened, no matter how mad we got at each other or how the relationships changed that we would never announce a breakup.” In that same interview, he stated that his former bandmates, quote, “were like brothers to me.”

Rolling Stone reports the seeds for the reunion were sown in December at the Hard Rock Hotel in Florida, where Tremonti and Stapp met before the singer sang the national anthem at the Champs Sports Bowl. He says they’ve now recorded about six demos and are looking for a producer. He also predicts a song called “Full Circle” will end up being the album’s title track.

In a statement announcing the reunion, Tremonti says, quote, “We’re all very excited to reconnect with our fans and each other after six long years.”

Drummer Scott Phillips is quoted as saying, “Our career as Creed came to a very abrupt and unforeseen ending. After reflecting on some of the greatest personal and professional moments of our lives, we’ve come to realize that we are still very capable of continuing that career and our friendship on a grander scale than ever before.”

Marshall says, “This is a development we are all happy about. It has been a long time since the four of us have taken the stage together, and without hesitation or reservation this is something all of us are into.”

And Stapp says, “It’s amazing how life can change and bring you full circle. Time gave us all a chance to reflect, grow and gain a deeper appreciation of our friendships, artistic chemistry, passion for music, and sincere love for our fans! It’s rare in life to get a second chance to make a first impression and we embrace the opportunity. We all believe the BEST IS YET TO COME!”

A preliminary tour itinerary has been released, although venues haven’t been confirmed at this time.

8,000 AC/DC FANS Left Ticketless

April 27, 2009

More than 8,000 AC/DC fans have been conned in a 3 million GBP ticket scam on the band’s world tour.

Organizers raked in $440,000 in ticket sales for a bogus show in Bucharest, Romania, next month before the con was rumbled. If they’d managed to sell all the tickets, organizers would have walked off with millions, local media reported.

It was only when the Aussie rockers posted a warning on their official website that the scam was revealed.

Organizers have apparently fled to Israel and their company PlayCool is no longer trading.  source: croatian times
