Filter Unveils New U.S. Tour
May 23, 2008
Filter has announced a new run of U.S. tour dates that will begin on June 12 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and continue through July 5 in Des Moines, Iowa, with more shows expected to be announced soon. The band is supporting its first album in six years, “Anthems for the Damned”, and also features an all-new lineup behind frontman and founder Richard Patrick. The singer told The Pulse of Radio that putting together a great live band was crucial for him. “You know, I sat down and I went, ‘You know what? If I’m gonna do Filter, I really want to hire, like, amazing people to be with me,’” he said. “You know, I had a lot of guys that were just kind of like my drinking buddies, you know, and it was almost based on more of a friendship. This band, it’s completely, totally professional, and with the talent of these guys, I can take Filter to another level and that’s what we’re trying to bring live.”
Support on the tour will come from 10 Years. Ironically, 10 Years‘ new album, “Division”, sold more than twice as many copies as the new Filter record, “Anthems for the Damned”, in their first week of release. Both came out last week, with 10 Years selling 28,000 copies and Filter moving 12,000.

Taproot Discusses The Making Of ‘Our Long Road Home’
May 23, 2008
Taproot vocalist Stephen Richards has told Timothy Flynn of The Flint Journal that the title of the band’s new record, “Our Long Road Home”, was no accident.
“It kind of sums up how we’re looking at this album,” he said.
The band’s new CD will be its first to be released directly on Velvet Hammer, a former Atlantic Records subsidiary that followed Taproot’s lead and split from its parent label in 2006.
While the group’s previous albums were recorded in Los Angeles, the band tracked its new disc at the Loft in Saline not far from Richards‘ home in Ann Arbor.
“It was good, it was kind of a blessing in disguise,” Richards said of the band’s local recording digs. “We didn’t have to worry about much, except income. With the economy the way it is, we decided to try and make some money for us instead of everybody else.”
