There will be a Velvet Revolver - Slash
March 31, 2008
Classic Rock’s Jerry Ewing recently spoke to Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash for an article that will be published in the issue that goes on sale on April 30. The excerpt below should be good news for all of you VR fans:
Classic Rock: Going back to Velvet Revolver, there’s been a lot said on the Internet between Scott and Matt. What’s the current state of play?
Slash: We’ve got six shows, ha-ha.
Classic Rock: How do you deal with that stuff flying around?
Slash: I have no comment. Obviously I’m very aware of everything that’s going on. The only thing I can add to that is, in contrast to what Scott says, there will be a Velvet Revolver after this tour.
Classic Rock: With Scott singing?
Slash: I have no comment on that [chuckles].

Bullet Wakes the Demon
March 31, 2008
Bullet For My Valentine have come to the decision to use “Waking the Demon” as the next single from their latest release, “Scream Aim Fire“. The track is set to hit radio on April 22nd, so the band would definitely appreciate all the fans getting out there and requesting.
“Waking the Demon” is a cut that’s definitely not suitable for KROQ or MTV. “It’s about getting revenge on a bully at school by slicing pieces off him,” frontman Matt Tuck told Revolver back in ‘07 when the album was still going through the process of being made.
Scars on Broadway Releases First Song
March 29, 2008
System of a down guitarist Daron Malakian’s new band with System drummer John Dolmayan, called Scars On Broadway, has released its first song, entitled “They Say“. Check it out at this location.
Malakian recently told Revolver magazine that Scars On Broadway is his first priority right now and he doesn’t see a return to System any time soon. Malakian explained, “System is not my band right now. I’ll go back and do that someday. I’d expect a second Scars album before I’d expect another System album.” That could mean a long wait for System fans, since Scars On Broadway has yet to finish recording its debut album or set a release date. The last System CD, “Hypnotize”, came out in late 2005. Scars On Broadway has yet to determine which record label will release their debut album.
Taste of Chaos gets Chaotic
March 29, 2008
OrlandoSentinel.com is reporting that Orange County Fire Rescue took several patients to the hospital after they were injured Friday night (March 28) at the Taste of Chaos concert at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, authorities said. The Taste of Chaos concert features Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine and Atreyu, among other bands. The concert began at 5 p.m. Five people with various injuries, including twisted ankles and chest and abdominal pains, were taken to Florida Hospital East, said Orange County Fire Rescue spokesman John Mulhall. UCF officials quickly suspended alcohol sales at the event.
According to local TV station WFTV, authorities say approximately 5,000 people attended and people at the event say a mosh pit got out of hand. Witnesses say more than 1,000 people were allowed in the pit, which got very rowdy and chaotic. One person described seeing paramedics working on one of the injured. “He came over on a crowd-surf, went on the floor and they were working on him for seven minutes,” said the man. Paramedics were transporting the patients and attending to others who had been injured between 8:30and 11 p.m., Mulhall said, according to OrlandoSentinel.com. Several units continued to stand by throughout the concert, he said.
Disturbed Takes Radio by the Balls
March 28, 2008
The Pulse of Radio reports: Disturbed’s new single, “Inside The Fire“, made a huge impact at rock radio during the past week, with the song officially added to the playlists of more than 60 stations. The track is taken from the band’s upcoming new album, “Indestructible“, and singer David Draiman says it’s one of the darkest songs he’s ever written. “It is based on a true story of my own where, when I was about 16 or so, I had a girlfriend of mine commit suicide,” he said. “It was an unbelievably horrific and painful experience, and it was cathartic to make the song, and it really took me having a certain mindset to do it, and I had to wait ’til I was ready.”
Disturbed has set June 3 as the release date for “Indestructible“. Another new song from the album, called “Perfect Insanity“, is now available at the band’s official web site, Disturbed1.com.
Pumpkins Frontman vs The Music Business
March 28, 2008
Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is using his band’s new legal battle with music industry heavyweights at Virgin to attack the whole business. Corgan and his bandmates filed suit against Virgin bosses on Monday, accusing them of allowing firms to use the group’s name and music for promotional purposes, without permission. But the lawsuit has only fuelled the rocker’s distaste for the state of the music business, and he’s even taking aim at executives at his current label Warner Brothers.
In a fiery rant to rock magazine Rolling Stone, Corgan claims talking to today’s music heads is like “talking to a brick wall”. He rages on saying: “These people, they treat your music like it’s worthless and they treat you like you’re even more worthless. And that goes for our current label, Warner Brothers, too.†“There’s no passion. There’s no love. There’s no respect. It’s…like you’re just a number. You might as well be some cookies, or a rock… Warner Brothers treats us like we’re from another planet.”
Corgan admits he’s delighted to see the music business struggling as top acts find other ways to sell their music without the need of traditional record companies. He adds: “The music business has sown the seeds for it’s own destruction here. So we’re not in any hurry to go back and help save them.”
Korns’ Original Line-up to Return?
March 28, 2008
According to The Pulse of Radio, rumors have surfaced that the original lineup of Korn be reuniting in the not-too-distant future. No other information was offered as to when this could happen or whether the original five members would record a new album or hit the road. Korn’s lineup was stable for the first 12 years and six albums of the band’s existence, until guitarist Brian “Head” Welch left the group in early 2005 to devote his life to Christianity. Drummer David Silveria followed in late 2006, taking a “temporary hiatus” to spend time with his family and oversee his restaurant business. Singer Jonathan Davis, guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer and bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu have carried on with a revolving cast of touring and studio musicians in the interim, vowing not to find permanent replacements.
