November 15, 2007 · Print This Article
Framing Hanley is a five-piece rock band from Tennessee. They have been getting notice lately with their debut album The Moment, which was released in August of 2007.
Crisp, strong, powerful lyrics and instrumentals make up each track on Framing Hanley’s debut album. Each track flows together smoothly and leaves a strong impression after just one listen. Like many bands, their songs are influenced by life experiences such as love and loss. The Moment is filled with radio friendly tracks that could pull this young band into a strong mainstream rock/ alternative radio setting.
As you listen to tracks like ‘Hear Me Now’, which is their first single, you instantly tap into the heart of the band. ‘Hear Me Now’ is filled with a strong fire and desire poured out to listeners which makes it one of the most standout tracks on the album. With each drum beat and stroke of the guitar you are drawn into the song. Between Nixon’s deep lyrics and the background screams of Brandon calling out, ‘Hear Me Now’ is a track that is sure to appeal to the tastes of fans and radio listeners alike.
Digging into the passionate heart of the album you will find ‘Alone in this Bed (Capeside)’, a song dedicate to the band’s great friend Ashley Hanley who they lost in a tragic car accident last year. This acoustically driven song has a much more sorrowful feel and heart than the others on the album. Yet this track shows fans what makes the band tick and their inspiration. ‘Alone in this Bed’ is by far the best track on the album lyrically, emotionally, and instrumentally.
Other tracks such as ‘Built for Sin’, ‘Slow Dance’, and ‘It’s Not what they Said’ continue to emphasize the strong passion that drives this band . Framing Hanley’s The Moment is certainly a disc for any cd collection for music lovers of all styles. This is definitely a band that the music world should keep an eye on as they take on the industry one song and venue at a time.
